SUMMARY

In the article the analysis of treatment of the 311 patients who admitted to the urological department was conducted. Among them, 199 patients had acute urinary retention and 112 patients - chronic urinary retention. The age of patients ranged from 57 to 91 years. After short pretreatment, the patients were made prostatectomies: TURP - in 203 patients, open prostatectomies - in 108 patients. In 207 patients were simultaneously diagnosed prostatitis (mainly chronic forms), but in 25 patients - purulent forms. After surgery we observed different complications like partial urine incontinence in 6 patients, acute epididymoorchitis in 12 patients, postoperative bleeding - in 5 patients, exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease - in 2 patients. Conservative therapy was effective. The authors recommend in postoperative period to use herbal medicine to treat chronic prostatitis, to eliminate the appearance of chronic pelvic pain and disorders of urination.
